Obituary of Philip W. Bornarth
Philip William Bornarth, Professor Emeritus from RIT, passed away on June 29 at age 92. He was born in Chicago to Mary Sullivan Bornarth and Louis O. Bornarth, both well known artists in the Chicago area.
Phil attend the Art Institute of Chicago, achieving a Master of Art Education.Phil received a scholarship to Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture in Maine and a traveling fellowship to Italy and Spain. He served two years with the US Army during the Korean War.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Denis Bornarth and granddaughter, Claire Virginia Bornarth. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Farrer-Bornarth, his sons Daniel Sulllivan Bornarth (Holly Fisher Bornarth), Ian Farrer-Bornarth (Carole Joy Bornarth) and grandchildren, Katy, Trevor, Emily , Chloe and Alexander.
“Having recently gone through the many drawings, prints and paintings stored an observation is that all his work is as fresh and alive as it was when it was created. It is exciting and timeless. It is one man’s celebration of the beauty of nature that surrounded him.
A reception will be held on July 20, 1-4 at Shadow Lake Golf & Racquet Club, 1850 Five Mile Line Rd, Penfield, NY. Friends and Associates are all welcome. Bring your memories to share.
