We were so sorry to hear of Terry’s passing. He was our neighbor in Fairport. We could have listened to his stories for hours. He was also our realtor when we moved to another part of Fairport. I was so saddened to learn about Terry's passing. He was truly a police professional in every way. Without a doubt Terry was the most intelligent police mind I'd ever met. He was the kind of individual you wanted to be. He gave 150% of himself and could get you to do the same without even realizing it. Terry was loyal and always had our backs. He cared about people. He cared about us and he cared about RPD. I was honored to call Terry my friend, but blessed that he called me his. My condolences to Karen and the entire Rickard family. Rest in peace my friend.

My sincere condolences to the Rickard family. DCO Rickard was a model police supervisor in every respect. I worked directly for him over a 3 year period, and he was always focused on looking after the officers out on the streets of Rochester. Blessings and prayers to the Rickard family.

Counting Terry among my friends for the past 40 years has always made me feel proud and grateful. He was one of the kindest, smartest and honest people I have ever known. He always remembered and asked about my family and spoke lovingly of his. I wish I could just hug him one more time and make him laugh with my goofy sense of humor. Terry was the first officer I rode with while I was still in the academy. He was very thoughtful and knowledgeable. A few years later he was my Sergeant in unit B, and we became close friends, and that friendship remained forever. When he was Deputy Chief, he always found time to sit and recall the good things and some crazy things we did in our younger years. My deepest sympathy to Karen and the children. He will always be fondly remembered. RIP
