Obituary of Donald L. Van Huben
PENFIELD - Passed away May 8, 2022, at home after a long illness.
He was predeceased by his parents, Marie K. Van Hubenof Rochester, NY, Leslie H. Van Huben of Virginia and his brother, L. Thomas Van Huben of Maryland.
Don was a life-long resident of the Rochester area. He attended Corpus Christi Elementary School and graduated from Aquinas Institute in 1969. Don served in the Navy as a linguist, stationed in Rota, Spain. He is survived by his partner of 20 years, Ann Ziki, his son, Jonathan Van Huben (Amanda) of Spencerport, two grandchildren, Liam and Laney Van Huben, three sisters, Kathleen Riddle (Raymond) of Virginia, Susan Howard of Webster, Margaret (Meg) Regan (David) of Brighton, several nieces and nephews and Ann’s sisters, Marcia Ziki (Doug Vaughn) of Pennsylvania and Jane Ziki of Maryland.
Don was an avid Yankees, Giants and Sabres fan. He loved to fish, play trivia games and was a consummate New York Times Crossword enthusiast and Canasta player. He will be remembered for his quick wit, worldly knowledge and love for his family, friends and co- workers.
Friends can call on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Jennings Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Rd, Penfield, NY, 14526. An hour of remembrance will follow calling hours at the funeral home and all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to The James P. Wilmot Cancer Center, 601 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY, 14642.
