Obituary of George F. Brauch

George F. Brauch

 

Webster - On April 3, 2022 at 99 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his devoted wife of 60 years, Marjorie; infant grandson, Jason Neatrour; sister, Lois Butler. George is survived by his children, Gary (Judith) Brauch, Beverly (Richard) Neatrour and Robert (Midori) Brauch; grandchildren, Thomas (Paula) Brauch, Autumn (Zack) Boston, Melissa Rossignol, Paul, Eric, Colin and Carolyn Neatrour, Spencer and Akira Brauch, Shaun Hernick; great-grandchildren, Paloma Brauch, Dean and Graham Wood, Kelsey (Corbin) Beck, Remington Rossignol, Cheyanne and Savanna Neatrour; sister, Joanne Buckner; nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends.

 

          George was born in Rochester, NY on January 17, 1923, to George Herbert and Catherine (Speckman) Brauch. He was a WWII Navy veteran serving in the Pacific aboard the Submarine Sterlet and the Submarine Tender Proteus. George was awarded the Submarine Combat Insignia, Asiatic-Pacific, WWII Victory, New York State Conspicuous Service, Cold War Victory Commemorative medals.

 

After his honorable discharge he pursued 35 very successful years of employment at Eastman Kodak Company. Following his retirement in 1983, he continued his life of service by volunteering for the LPGA, Meals on Wheels, teaching computer classes to residents of St. Ann’s Community, Disabled American Veterans Transportation Service and the Rochester Vet Center among others. He was instrumental in developing the Rochester Veterans Memorial at the Blue Cross Arena. George led an extraordinary life of service to friends, family and his community.

 

He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, U.S. Submarine Veterans of WWII and ACORNS (Assoc. of Corvair Nuts). George loved music and had a very extensive vinyl collection, was an avid reader, enjoyed taking his cars to Cruise Night and loved his dog, Mandy.

 

Family and friends may call at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Road, Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 2-6 PM. His Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 11, 1:30 PM at Church of the Holy Spirit, 1355 Hatch Road, Webster. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
