Aunt Mildred was a second mother to me for much of my childhood. As the cousin closest in age to her son Jonathan we would raise all kind of hell when together, running, yelling, wrestling, getting into Jon’s older brother’s stuff (which I’ll not name here ;-) ) and I can still hear her patient voice calling to us “ now, you boys… over,(or under or up or down) there… SETTLE DOWN would you…” I don’t think it worked for more than a few seconds…. She was always kind and welcoming and had a beautiful smile. Even when she had to know the chaos that was about to ensue once I arrived at her house… she away welcomed me back for every visit.
