Obituary of Geraldine J. Crumb
Geraldine J. Crumb died April 18, 2021. Gerry was born in Utica, NY on October 16, 1937. She was the daughter of James F. and Catherine A. (Migliaccio) Vitale. She attended Bleecker Street Grammar School and graduated from Thomas R. Proctor High School in 1955. She graduated as a registered nurse from the Faxton Hospital School of Nursing in 1958, and later obtained her advanced degree from Utica College. Her career as a nurse spanned many decades but she most enjoyed her time as an emergency room nurse at Faxton Hospital.
On December 27, 1958, Gerry married Donald L. Crumb, Sr. at St Mary of Mount Carmel Church in Utica NY.
Gerry raised her family in Boonville NY. She enjoyed hosting holidays and any other occasion with her family, extended family and friends. For over 20 years she hosted “Snow Day” at the family farm. Her guests enjoyed cross country skiing, sledding, tubing, and lots of food. She instilled a love of reading in her children and was a huge fan of both the Erwin Library and Institute and Dodge Pratt Northam Art & Community Center. Her other great enjoyment was travel. She and Don traveled all over the United States and Europe. Their adventures were legendary.
In 2019 Gerry and Don relocated to Chapel Oaks in Rochester.
