Obituary of Mary Jane Izzo
Passed away on Easter Sunday, April 4 aged 100 (1921-2021). Mary Jane was a life long resident of Rochester. She was a gentle and caring soul and devoted to her family. She was particularly devoted to the care of her father and mother and later, her sister Anna. In her earlier years, she was very active in the St. Ambrose Parish and later at St. Thomas More”.
She was a graduate of Nazareth Academy in Rochester the leading all-girls Catholic school at that time. She continued her education at the University of Rochester earning a B.A and a Masters from the University. Her professional career was a Research Technician at the University of Rochester School of Medicine.
Pre-deceased by, sisters Anna Nolfi and Yolanda Barker; brothers Dr. Joseph Izzo and Dr. Anthony Izzo.
Mary Jane is survived by her niece, Claire Martella; nephews, Dr. Joseph Izzo, Jr. Theodore Izzo, Thomas (Lorraine) Barker, Loren Barker, Michael Barker, Russell Barker, Steven Izzo, Donald (Barbara) Izzo, James (Kristina) Izzo, John (Christine) Izzo; numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A private family service was held at the gravesite at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
