Obituary of Marjorie S. Miller

Marjorie S. Miller, 88, of Allegheny Township, PA died December 20, 2020, after complications from Alzheimer’s Disease and COVID-19. She was born April 3, 1932, in Leechburg, PA where she was a lifelong resident, until most recently in Fairport, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eleanor and Glenn Shaner, her husband of 49 years, Robert L. Miller (2006), Muriel Rupert (sister), Kenneth Rupert (brother-in-law), and Joan Shaner (sister-in-law). She was retired from the Kiski Area School District, where she was employed for many years as an elementary school teacher (third grade). She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Leechburg, where she was involved in Lutheran Church Women, church choir, committee work and youth ministry. She enjoyed baking, music, sewing, gardening, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Heidi (Valerie), of Rochester, NY, and son Todd (Yukiko), of Ann Arbor, MI.; and grandchildren, Travis and Yoko Miller and Marisa and Vanesa Chiodo; brother, David Shaner, of Uniontown, Ohio; and many nephews, a niece and many dearly loved friends. Special thanks to the wonderful nurses and staff of Fairport Baptist Home, Fairport, NY for their loving care of Marj for nearly ten years. Mom was a very special lady; gracious, polite, kind to all, and a woman of great faith. She will be deeply missed by many. Private funeral arrangements and burial will be in Leechburg, PA.
