Obituary of George A. Brown
George A Brown of Brighton, NY formerly of Penfield, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020 at age 95
He is survived by Edna Louise, his wife of 71 years, his brother Paul Brown, his son Larry, daughters Carolyn, Alison, and Elaine, 4 granddaughters, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
George served in the army from 1944 to 1946. After serving, he graduated from the University of Rochester and then obtained his masters and PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware in 1964. He worked at Merck in Rahway, NJ, then moved to Xerox in Webster, NY, retiring in1987. He received several patents during these tenures.
He had many hobbies, including stamp collecting, amateur astronomy, mineralogy, and genealogy. George and his family spent many vacations camping throughout the United States and Canada.
George was an active member of the Penfield United Methodist Church. He served the church in many capacities and especially enjoyed singing in the choir and, in his retirement, spending time with the "Wednesday Guys".
The family would like to thank all the wonderful team members at JMS Services of Webster for the care George received during the last few months.
A celebration of his life will be planned for the summer of 2021 at the church.
