Obituary of Roy F. Purdy

Roy F. Purdy of Fairport passed away on October 10, 2020 at age 93. Roy is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Elinor (VanDerlike); Children, Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren: Alan(Lori)Purdy children: Jayme(Jim)Fantauzzo - Dominic & Lucus, Ashley Fakovic – Zara & Ryleigh, Courtney(Dan)Mclean James Purdy(Laura Thomas) children: Michael(Sarah)Purdy – Mason & Mikayla, Eric Purdy(Jessica Suhr), Gregory(Brittany)Purdy - Lincoln Nancy(Nicholas)Ruggieri daughter: Brooklynn Sandra Weis(Ace Cole) children: Kendra(Andrew)Breen – Brighton, Brian(Mary)Weis Cheryl(Glenn)Bray children: Bradley Bray, Caitlynn(Cahal)Moulton – Elinor &Teagann, Heather Bray. Roy was born in Rochester, NY. He Attended Edison Tech and played Semi-Pro Football. He enlisted in the Navy for active duty in June of 1945. He was stationed out of Mayport & Banana River, Florida. He received an Honorable Discharge in July, 1946 and entered the reserves where he served on inactive duty at USN PSC Lido headquarters, Third Naval District until 1950. Roy was a charter member of the West Walworth Fire Department and the Penfield Sportsman Club now known as the Walworth Rod and Gun Club. Roy worked for Eastman Kodak Company for forty-five years. He retired in 1986 as Department Manager of Trucking, Rigging and Scaffolding in the Plant Services division. Roy married Elinor Irene VanDerlike of West Walworth on July 22,1949. Roy & Elinor owned property in Hartsville, NY where he enjoyed hunting, and the great outdoors with all of his family. He was involved with the Boy Scouts. He and Elinor have beautiful memories of traveling from the East Coast to the West Coast. Their travels included Alaska, Hawaii and all over Europe. Services will be held at a date and time to be announced.
