Obituary of Joseph Lawrence Preston

Joseph “Papa Joe” Preston, a WW2 Veteran, passed away today, August 24, 2020, from stage 4 lung cancer. Happily, he is now reunited in heaven with his beloved “Rie Baby” wife of 70 years. Marie passed away at the age of 93, three years ago, from heart failure.Their Wedding Anniversary was August 23rd. When someone asked him how long they had been married he would say 73 years, as he never felt she had left him. He never bought a lottery ticket because as he put it, “I won the lottery the day Marie agreed to marry me!” Joe & Rie, held hands and wrote little love notes or poems to each other daily. Joe always wanted a “Fiat Spider!” We all hope Joe and Rie are riding around in it in heaven. They really had true love, for those of you who think true love doesn't exist! Joe leaves behind family and many friends, all who loved him and will miss his endless supply of jokes! So with that, here is Joe's one last joke: Joe couldn't remember his blood type, he kept insisting for us to "B positive!" That will be hard to do without him. Thanks for making us all laugh Papa Joe!
