Obituary of Larry Robert DeWitt
Larry Robert DeWitt of Fairport went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 3, 2015 at age 68. Beloved husband of Christine; proud and loving father of Jay Robert (Sarah) and Carrie Rebecca (Randall) Gilbert; cherished Grampie of Grace Rebecca and Margaret Rose DeWitt, Julia Robert Gilbert and Owen Robert DeWitt Gilbert due December 2015; also survived by his deeply loved brothers, Douglas R., Peter R. (Pauline) and Jon R.; his loving aunt and uncle, Harold R. and Patricia DeWitt; 36 nieces and nephews; cousins, Christine's family and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Evelyn.
Larry was a proud Navy Vietnam Veteran. Serving aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard 1966-1970. He was a long time and current President of the W. H. Homeowner's Association, Treasurer of NYSAC, a member of the Perinton VFW and a retiree of the Town of Perinton after 34 years of service. He enjoyed creating and tinkering at his beloved cabin and always made sure the birds and wildlife were well fed. He also enjoyed stamp collecting-a lifelong passion, a good antique hunt, UK basketball, the Dallas Cowboys, stock car racing, finding a new diner to try, a good cup of coffee, a good book, road trips, building model cars and driving to parts unknown just to see the beauty. But above all he enjoyed being with his family. He was dearly loved by all who knew him.
No prior calling. Friends are invited to attend both Burial and Memorial Services. Burial Service will be held FRIDAY July 10th, 1 PM at Bath National Cemetery (please meet at cemetery office at 12:50 PM). Larry's Memorial Service will be held SATURDAY July 11th, 1 PM in All Seasons Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford. Those wishing may direct donations to Honor Flight in Larry's memory.
