Obituary of Dorothy E. Lawrence
Dorothy “Dottie” Lawrence, aged 90, passed away peacefully on July 21,2020 from complications of pancreatic cancer. Dottie was beloved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. Born in Potsdam, NY, she was predeceased by her cherished daughter Kelly, her parents, Beatrice and George Lawrence and her brother, Dick (Phyllis) Lawrence of Weslaco, TX. She is survived by her younger brother, Bill (Frances) Lawrence of Norfolk, NY, and by nieces, Stacey Lawrence Fuller, Loveland, OH and Debbie Lawrence, Ottawa, ON and nephews, Jeffrey (Linda) Lawrence, Vancouver, BC, Barry (Ann) Lawrence, Massena, NY and Scott (Inuuteq) Lawrence, Bethesda, MD. Dottie enjoyed the friendship of many and the family remains eternally grateful to all those who brought her joy both during her lifetime and in the days when her life moved quietly to its end.
A graduate of Potsdam High School and SUNY Canton, Dottie worked as an Executive Secretary at Marine Midland Bank, Potsdam State University and the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester, retiring in 2000. She was an avid bridge player and a long-time volunteer at both the RPO and Geva Theater.
There are no calling hours. Burial will be private, and with family, at Visitation cemetery in Norfolk, NY. In her memory, contributions may be made to Isaiah House, 71 Prince Street, Rochester, 14605.
