Obituary of Anne H. Schottmiller
Anne Julia Heberling Schottmiller of Rochester went home to be with the Lord April 9, 2020. She was born July 26, 1931, in Rochester, the daughter of Mary Connell Heberling and Vincent J. Heberling. She was a graduate of Nazareth Academy in Rochester.
She was a proud alumna of Georgetown University, graduating in 1954 as part of the first class to issue baccalaureate degrees to women.
Anne had a passion for nursing, mothering, and volunteering at her church, but above all, she was devoted to her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with family at the Thousand Islands, which she began visiting at the age of one.
She was a public health nurse in both Rochester and Syracuse, and was head neonatal nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. In later years, she made many friends as an Avon representative. She had a keen sense of humor, and a wonderful laugh.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Julia Anne Koestner; her son, John Charles Schottmiller, Jr.; and her brother, Don Heberling. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John C. Schottmiller, and several nieces and nephews.
Anne's family is deeply appreciative of the compassionate care she received during her last five years at Aaron Manor, especially from the nursing staff and activities committee.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations in her name to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 26 Mendon Ionia Rd., Mendon, NY 14506. Services will be held at a later date.
