Mary Anne Laurer posted a condolence

Diane, please accept my sincere sympathy in the passing of this great man. Your description in your father's obituary is perfect. His pride in our country was superlative and his service a tribute to his generous military service. His love for his Catholic faith was exemplary ... devoted and faithful he was!
When I first met your Dad, he told me of his love for his teacher, Sister Rose Patricia O'Neill, and how her influence helped him as a young boy and as an adult. Sister was killed in an auto accident and John often donated to the Sisters of Saint Joseph in her memory.
And Diane, oh how he loved you! Always remember that. Now he is resting in the presence of God with his beloved Mae.
God bless you, Diane.
Sister Mary Anne

Diane I am so sorry for the loss of your father. He was a true friend to me. I loved visiting with him at St. John’s every Tuesday and hearing his stories. We had lots of good talks and times...many laughs. He will be truly missed. May he Rest In Peace. God bless you John. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Diane and your family. Many blessings. St John’s volunteer, Andrew Mastin.

So sorry I haven't written sooner, Andy. I just saw this today. You were such a good friend to my father. I know he enjoyed your visits ...those talks and the laughs you had together. You had his trust and affection and I appreciated that you treated him with such respect and kindness. I was comforted knowing he received such good care at St. John's. Wishing you many blessings and stay well, dear man. Best, Diane
