Obituary of Theodore Spiros Vangellow

Theodore Vangellow "Ted" Penfield - On March 6, 2020 at age 95. He is predeceased by his wife, Theo and daughter, Patricia Leidy. Ted is survived by his son, Alex (Linda); son-in-law, Dr. David Leidy, DDS; grandchildren, Christopher (Amber), Elizabeth (Jessie) Straight, Cara (Denis) Whelan, and Margaret (Jason) Starke; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Alexandra) and John (Elaine); brother-in-law, Peter (Kathy) Stark; sisters-in-law, Ann Stark and Sandy Stark; many nieces and nephews. Ted graduated from Madison High School. While attending Syracuse University, Ted was drafted into the US Army Air Corps, serving in Europe during WWII. After returning from the service, he married Theo Stark of Syracuse. He was co-owner of General Supply Company, where he designed many Rochester restaurants. He was also a long-time member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Sons of Pericles, American Legion Hexagon Post and Masonic Order. Ted was a proud veteran and happily attended Honor Flight with his son, Alex. As an avid golfer, he was a long-time member at Oak Hill Country Club, Penfield County Club, Seabrook Island Club in South Carolina, and played many courses with his wife, Theo, in Scotland, Greece and Australia. Ted was proud of his hole-in-one on Oak Hill East #3. Ted also leaves behind many relatives and friends in Greece and Australia. He was a beloved father, Papu, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. His family would like to thank the caring staff and friends at The Friendly Home. Friends may call Tuesday, March 10, 5-7 PM with the Trisagion Service at 7 PM at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 962 East Ave. Rochester, where his Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 10 AM. Interment White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
