Obituary of Stanley A. Carafos

Stanley A. Carafos of Brighton passed away on August 12, 2019 at age 92. He is survived by his brother, Arthur Carafos; children, Andy (Trish) Carafos, Cynthia Gates, George (Joan) Carafos; longtime companion, Jeanette Lazary; grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Stanley was a WWII Army Veteran. He returned home to work in the family business, University Bar and Grill. After a fire destroyed the restaurant in 1978, he joined his brother, Andy, at the Sherwood Manor in Honeoye Falls, where Stanley was chef and co-owner. He was a devout member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation where he served as President, taught Sunday School for 20 years and remained an active member until his death. He was honored in 2018 on the 100th anniversary of the church for his years of service. The family wishes to express their thanks to the aides who cared for Stanley.

Family and friends are invited to call at Church of the Annunciation, 962 East Ave, Friday from 5-7 PM, where the Trisagion Service will be held at 6:45 PM. Stanley's Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 10 AM at the church. Interment in White Haven Memorial Park will follow the Mercy Meal.
