Obituary of Thomas C. Falk

Thomas C. Falk of Penfield passed away July 6, 2019.  Loving and devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, team mate, co-worker, coach and friend.  Tom was predeceased by the love of his life, wife Margie and son-in-law Tom Palmer. He is survived by children Thomas Jr. (Elyse) Falk, Megan (Neal) Dotterer, Melissa Palmer, John (Jodi) Falk, Amy (Russ) Brandon; and 14 grandchildren, Jennifer (Nick) Bartle, Sarah (Brian) Hartsell, Tommy & Andrew Falk, Neal (Nicole), Collin & Evan Dotterer, Ian & Riley Palmer, Emma & Aidan Falk, R.J., Jack & Grace Brandon;  3 great-grandchildren Graham & Blake Bartle and Keira Hartsell; sister Peggy Moore; sister-in-law Sally Falk, brother-in-law Robert (Joyce) Antell and his beloved nieces and nephews. Tom was a proud member and Class President of the 1948 graduating class at Aquinas Institute.  He spoke fondly and often of his football, baseball and basketball coaches and teammates at Aquinas.  Tom signed with the Detroit Tigers out of high school and played four years in their organization until he was drafted in the U.S Army.  Following his discharge he played in the Washington Senators organization.  He was a graduate of the University of Detroit. After his playing days Tom and Margie returned to Rochester and raised their five children in Penfield. He worked for Allstate as a Sales Agent for over 40 years with some of the finest people.  A parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church since 1970, he served as a member and Chairman of the parish council, was a lector at the 11 o’clock mass, a Eucharist Minister to the residents at the Atria and coached CYO basketball. Tom shared his love of sports with his children and the town of Penfield. He coached countless years of Penfield Little League and Pop Warner football.  He was a board member for Penfield Little League and President of the Senior League. He was a member of the Penfield Parks and Recreation Committee for over 30 years and served as its Chairman for most of that time.  He was a member of the Aquinas Hall of Fame and Section V Baseball Hall of Fame. Pops was a fixture at his grandchildren’s games & recitals, worked out at the Penfield YMCA and maintained his “mayor” of Penfield Wegmans status.  He spent his later years striving to keep Margie’s memory alive.  A gentle man with an infectious smile, Pops will be forever in our hearts. A special note of thanks to Jennifer Jerome Roberts, M.D.. To the staff, care providers and his friends at the Glenmere you were all very special to Tom.
Friends are invited to call Friday from 3-7 at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Rd. Tom’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 10 AM at St. Joseph's Church, 43 Gebhardt Rd. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society or the Aquinas Institute.
