Obituary of Betty Jane Sauer
Betty passed away peacefully May 9, 2019 at the age of 98 after a long, joy-filled and interesting life. She is survived by her beloved family - children, James (Colleen) Sauer, John Sauer, Elsa (Nicholas) Steo and special son Luis (Fanny) Morantes de los Rios in Lima, Peru; grandchildren, Monica Friesner (Leo Vogt), Melinda (Gerry) Ward, Meredith Gregory and Ryan Sauer; great-grandchildren, Kyler, Mackenzie, Nicholas, Jacqueline, Hunter and Dezmond and great-great grandson, Jaxson, many nieces and nephew, countless friends and special friend Nancy Wright.
Betty graduated from Irondequoit High School, Rochester Business Institute and Marjorie Webster College. She was an avid reader, enjoyed learning, creative writing, bowling, travel, boating and time spent with family and friends. She was an ordained Deacon in the Presbyterian Church and while living many years in Mendon entertained frequently. She spent twenty-two years as a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House. Betty worked as an executive secretary and as an office manager at Itek, Eastman Kodak, Mendon Research and Development, Canadian Export-Import and Ontario Pipeline. She was very involved in the Seaview Hotel in Grand Cayman, BWI. At her request there will be no calling hours and a Celebration of Life will be held Monday, May 13, 2019 at Shriners Damascus Center, 979 Bay Road, Webster at 2:00 pm.
