Obituary of Jeanne H. Lindsay
Jeanne H. Lindsay of Penfield passed away January 20, 2019.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Jacque, and is survived by her daughter, Amy L. Gentry of Rochester, and numerous nieces and nephews. She held a bachelor’s degree in art from Empire State College and was a renowned watercolorist featured multiple times in American Artist magazine. She was a beloved art teacher and taught at the Memorial Art Gallery and served as both president and program chairman for the Rochester Art Club. Jeanne was also a member of the Watercolor USA Honor Society. Her paintings were primarily represented through the Nan Miller Art Gallery.
Jeanne was born in Rocky Mount, NC and received a nursing degree from Anderson College in South Carolina. She was working at Duke University Hospital when she met her future husband, Jacque, and they moved to Rochester after he received his PhD in Chemistry from Duke University. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Friends may call at Jennings, Nulton, and Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Road on Friday March 29th from 6-8 PM. There will be a celebration of life service and reception at the Memorial Art Gallery on Saturday, March 30th from 1:00 – 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations be made to the Rochester Art Club.
