Obituary of Elaine Higham Boyd

Elaine Vera Higham Boyd was born January 4, 1938 to Margaret and Robert Higham. She had a wonderful childhood with her younger 3 siblings, loving parents, Grandparents and many relatives. She fondly remembered the year her family of 6 lived in their Grandfather's barn following the end of WWII. That year brought precious memories of her cousins and Grandfather living in the "big house." She attended School 41 until her family moved to Ridge Road West. Afterward, she went to Greece Central School on Hoover Drive through the 8th grade. During her time at GCS she formed many lifelong friendships. Elaine went on to attend John Marshall High School. She graduated in 1955 and headed off to SUNY Geneseo to pursue a degree in education. Following her graduation from Geneseo in 1959, she taught in Fairport for 41 years, where she touched the lives of many in the community with her kindness, grace, and love. She was a lifelong teacher who also co-founded, taught and served on the board of the Bertha Agor Memorial Nursery School. In addition to starting her teaching career in 1959, she also married her college sweetheart, Carl. Elaine and Carl were thrilled to welcome 3 daughters into their loving family. She was a devoted, caring, supportive, encouraging, understanding, patient Mother. She was beyond thrilled to welcome her seven "Grands" and one great "Grand". Doting Grandmother doesn't begin to describe Nonnie. She thoroughly enjoyed each moment with her Grands. Elaine was in constant motion. Her passions included her church life/volunteer work and service to others, writing, music/piano playing, reading and cooking/baking (including baking her famous mincemeat pies and tea parties). Always thinking of others, she lived her life with grace, class, elegance, and love.
