As a friend and companion of Helen , I was honored to share her life in the really golden years. Our relationship went from shopping at Wegmans just to get out and then when she couldn't, deal with the crowds she was happy to just get in the car as my passenger and take a drive! As long as I headed in to the direction for sun to land on her face she was so happy! We spent so much time doing so many things! I felt a special kinship to her ! She always lite up when I walked in the room! Would sometimes play a joke on me and pretend she didn't, know me just to see me frown and then we would Laugh together ! I spent many years together as a companion -and so happy to be her travel companion all the way to San Francisco to her grand nephew wedding where I was able to meet much of her family and make sure she enjoyed the big event! I made some good friends because of her and everyone was so helpful. I was honored to be in her presence!
Since August of 2014, Helen was just happy to sit in the sunshine with the warmth on her face, we took many walks outside and then in October we took many drives in the car to see the leaves changing and she always would remark " it is so nice to be seeing the changing of the leaves and get out of the Room"! I miss my drives on Sat and Sun mornings with her, getting a chocolate shake for her and a sweet tea for me and just drinking into the sun!
I miss her sweet smile , her calm attitude and just holding her hand while she slept ! A great lady and very honored to have been part of her life!

Helen and Harland were wonderful neighbors on Hillcrest Dr. I can't remember how many times we sent a basketball through their basement window, but I never heard a harsh word from either Helen or Harland. Ever. I wish I'd had her for Algebra!

It is difficult to imagine not being able to physically engage with Helen again. She always made me laugh and enjoy life. One of the last times I saw her, she touched the grey area in my hair and said, "when did this happen"? I wondered that myself.
Life sometimes seems so long, and yet at other times, so fleeting. Take care, Helen, know that I love you and we will see each other again some day.

Helen was my aunt, and she was a very special person to both friends, students, and family.
She will be remembered by me with love and humor. We shared a very special relationship, and always was my most avid supporter in both my arts and crafts/art endeavors, and in my love of animals.
