Obituary of Dianne W. Evans

Dianne Wardwell Evans of Fairport passed away on August 26, 2014, at age 77. She was predeceased by her husband, William in November 2009 and is survived by three children, William Jr. (Ann Marie), Douglas (Mary), and Timothy (Sara); three grandchildren, Marissa, William, and Julia; and brother, Robert (Regina) Wardwell. Dianne was born in Washington, DC, on October 5, 1936, as the middle child of Eric and Evelyn Wardwell. She graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Physical Therapy. Dianne and Bill met on a blind date after being introduced by a mutual friend, and were married on December 17, 1960, in Cleveland, Ohio. She worked as a physical therapist until she began a family. After raising three sons, Dianne held a number of part-time jobs, but was first and foremost a loving mother, grandmother and wife. Dianne and Bill were active for many years at the Penfield United Methodist Church. After Bill retired from GE in 1991, they moved from the Detroit area back to Rochester and enjoyed being grandparents and volunteering in the community. Dianne spent many hours helping children to improve their reading skills, and she loved gardening, knitting, crossword puzzles, and playing games with friends and family. Dianne touched many lives and treasured loving friendships. The family would like to thank the staff of the Fairport Baptist Home and all those who assisted in her health care. Private entombment at White Haven Memorial Park. Friends may call Sunday 2-4 PM at Penfield United Methodist Church, 1795 Baird Road, where a Memorial Service will be held at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Penfield United Methodist Church or the Northwest Neighborhood Outreach Center (formerly Grace Urban Ministries).
