Obituary of Mary Claire Lyons

Mary Claire Lyons of Penfield passed away on March 9, 2014 from cancer. She was married for 52 years to Charles who died in 2011. They lived their entire married life in Penfield. She is survived by 4 children, Joyce Lyons (Kevin) Carpenter, Mary Jo (Robert) Hansen, Catherine (Michael) Kuegler, Charles (Judy) Lyons, Jr.; 10 grandchildren, Daniel and Claire Carpenter, Catherine, Paige and Robert Charles Hansen, Mary Catherine, Anna and Kurt Kuegler, Maria and Mark Lyons; sister, Sister Kathleen Joy Steck, Order of the Immaculate Heart of Mary; brothers, Louis (Norma) Steck, Frank Steck, Robert Steck; brother-in-law, Robert Lyons; many nieces and nephews. Mary Claire was a volunteer in Penfield schools and St. Joseph's Church. She was also a member of the adjunct faculty at RIT for many years. Her family wishes to express their gratitude to her dear friend of 55 years, Barbara Phillips for her constant assistance during Mary Claire's illness; also to her many friends who offered help when needed. Mary Claire was grateful for the care from Dr. Michelle Shayne and the entire staff of the Wilmot Cancer Center. No prior calling hours. A private Memorial Mass is planned followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Oncology Dept.
