Obituary of Elizabeth M. MacKay

Elizabeth “Betsy” MacKay (nee Murphy) passed away August 10, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, daughter, Laurel, Son-in-law, Eddie and grandchildren, Tyler and Ethan. She was predeceased by her son, Kenneth Christian MacKay. Betsy was born on May 4, 1938, in Yonkers, New York, the daughter of Joe and Grace Murphy. She attended Roosevelt High School where she met Ken. Over the years, she remained in touch and close with many of her RHS friends. Once married, Betsy and Ken lived in New Jersey for several years, starting their family there. Betsy and Ken moved to Rochester when Ken joined Xerox. Professionally, Betsy pursued various interests including exercise teacher, telemarketing and retail sales. Betsy was a lifelong learner and enjoyed creative writing, reading, walking and knitting. Her sense of humor, good cooking and generous hospitality were her hallmarks and will be deeply missed. Friends may call at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Road on Friday, September 20th from 12:00-1:00 pm where a Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 pm.
