Obituary of James Stappenbeck
James C. Stappenbeck of New Smyrna Beach, FL, formerly of Penfield, NY, passed away May 16, 2018 at age 78 after a brief illness. He is survived by his best friend, Joanne M. Stappenbeck; children, James S. (Rena), Eric (Amy), Casey and Heather (Paul); brother, Donald M. (Kitty); grandchildren, Sara, Scott, Dallas, Casey, Ashley and Hannah; many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and close friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Roger and Douglas; parents, Marion A. and Oscar M. Stappenbeck.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman with a deep sense of family who loved to spend time hunting, fishing, camping, collecting or just visiting with family and friends. Jim was a former Scoutmaster with Troop 260 from St. Joseph's Church in Penfield and a founding member of the Flintlock Hunting Club. He graduated from Edison Tech and worked for many years at Itek Corp. in Henrietta. James and his canine companion Hoppy will be missed by his family and large circle of caring and devoted friends.
Friends may call Thursday 4-8PM at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Road, where a Service will be held Friday 10AM. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to Southeast Volusia County Humane Society.
