Obituary of Elizabeth M. Maruca

Elizabeth M. Maruca formerly of Dunkirk, MD passed away peacefully on April 25, 2018 at the home of her daughter in Fairport, NY at the age of 83.

Predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, James; parents, Anna and Michael Squashic; sister, Dorothy, brothers; Thomas, John, Michael, Joseph and Edward.

Elizabeth worked for the US Federal Government which included positions in the Executive Office of the White House during the Kennedy administration, Department of Agriculture, Government Printing Office and she retired from the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration as a Communication Specialist.

She was an avid gardener and a fabulous cook. She enjoyed playing bridge, bingo and watching her favorite sport teams – Washington Redskins and the University of Maryland Terrapins. She loved to pray the rosary and her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Elizabeth was the loving mother of Connie (Lou Jr.) Zambelli, James (Lisa) Maruca Jr, Donald (Shari) Maruca and Christopher (Susan) Maruca. She was devoted to her ten grandchildren, Louis III, Dominic and Mariel Zambelli, Brittany and Angie Maruca, Amanda, Caroline and Sam Maruca, James Paul and Christine Maruca.

Also survived by a sister, Anna (Steve) Meyers; brothers, Charles and Paul (Ruth) Squashic; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption in Fairport, NY at 3:00 p.m. on Monday April 30, 2018.

Entombment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Resurrection Mausoleum, in Gallitzin, PA at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.
