Obituary of Jean Kyle Lindsay

Jean Kyle Lindsay, formerly Jean Bisignano, 84, died on March 16, 2018 after a long illness. Born Jean Eleanor to Frederick Kyle and Margaret Porter Knight on January 31, 1934. She survived her only sister, Gloria Kyle Lea who passed away in 2000. Jean was a woman of academia, arts, and letters who held many jobs across the 1940s-1960s including cashier at Oakland Beach to print model to secretary. In 1974, Jean graduated from Manhattanville College, with a Master's Degree in Area Studies, and she taught both history and English at St. Pius X School and Harrison High School for over 20 years. Never one to lose sight of her learning, Jean acquired 90+ post graduate hours at various universities and was a published poet. A lover of the written word and an avid reader, Jean traveled all over the US, to England, and Italy, but settled her attention on Martha's Vineyard, where she built her summer home, which remains a family legacy. Jean is survived by her adoring children Christopher Bisignano (Karen), Susan Gailor, Lisa Cardi (Joseph), and James Kyle Lindsay (David) as well as nine grandchildren. A memorial service is planned at Saint Gregory the Great Church, Harrison, NY at 11 AM on Saturday, April 21, 2018.
