Obituary of Armin H. Weidmann

Armin H. Weidmann of Webster passed away January 2, 2017 at age 82. Armin is survived by his wife of 30 years, Peggy; daughters, Marilyn Bentley, Tina (Gary) Vohl, Dawn (Scott) Thompson and Teresa (Colin) Brockman; 9 grandchildren, Ashley and Zachary Bentley, T. J. (Kim), Cory and Jesse Hurysz, Joey and Noah Siesto, Christopher and Eric Thompson; 1 great-grandchild, Jamie Hurysz; brothers-in-law, Don (Lynn), Steve (Donna) and John (Connie) Ventura; sisters-in-law, Jan (Bill) Sweet and Marilyn (Bill) VanLare; many nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Larry Lochner. Armin was a Korean War Veteran. He spent much of his time while in the army stationed at the White Sands Missile Range. This past year Armin participated in Honor Flight, an opportunity he cherished. Armin was a machinist at Eastman Kodak and retired in 1991 after 27 years of service. He participated in the development of the Hubble telescope as well as other government research projects. After retirement, Armin opened his own machine shop which he operated until he became ill. Armin was a gifted craftsman. He built his home in Webster New York and he and his father built the family cottage in Cape Vincent. Many summers were spent with family and friends enjoying fishing weekends, clam bakes and campfires. He was an avid scuba diver and spent time recovering artifacts from Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence. He was fond of his group of colleagues from Kodak as evidenced by the many bass tournament weekends that he hosted at the cottage. Armin also enjoyed volunteering in the community. He was a Volunteer Fireman with the West Webster Fire Department for 20 years. He volunteered at the Seneca Park Zoo as a Zoomobile Docent. He also helped with small projects at the zoo and was a true lover of animals. He cherished his pets and was a fast friend to all animals he met. In more recent years Armin volunteered at Webster's annual budget vote as well as Plank South Elementary School events. Armin obtained his pilot's license at the age of 16 and often spoke of flying in his early years. He was an avid story teller with so much to share. Armin's greatest love was his family and he especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great granddaughter. Friends may call at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Road Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 2-6PM, where Services will be held Monday at 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to Honor Flight Rochester in Armin's memory.
