Obituary of Helen T Gauvin

Helen T. Gauvin of Penfield NY died December 30th 2015. Predeceased by her husband, Hervey and son Peter. Helen is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Philip) Burke; grandchildren, Caitlin (Brian) Teevan, Julie (Fiance Evan Dewart) and Stephen Burke; the light of her life, great granddaughter Aya Marley Teevan; sister, Jane Murphy; many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends. Helen was born in Rhode Island, and treasured visiting there several times a year for family gatherings. She and her husband Hervey settled in Acton MA to raise their family. After 40+ years, they made Penfield their home to be part of their children's and grandchildren's lives. Helen enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's activities; sporting events, plays, recitals, graduations and more. Summers were spent on the coast of Maine, where she enjoyed the sea and the rocky coast. Helen was a world traveler, visiting Europe, the Holy Land, Africa and much of the US including Hawaii and Alaska. Most importantly, Helen was a woman of strong faith with a devotion to the Blessed Mother, attending daily Mass at Holy Spirit Church and Sunday Mass with her family at St. Joseph's in Penfield. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Helen's family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the loving care given to Helen over the past five years by both her home health aides and the staff of St. John's Greenhouses of Penfield. Friends may call at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Road, Friday, January 8th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Helen's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Church, 43 Gebhardt Rd., Penfield. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to St. Joseph's Church, FoodLink or Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network in her memory.
