Obituary of Michael J Wallace

Michael John Wallace of Penfield, NY passed away on December 11, 2023 surrounded by his family.  Mike fought a long battle against colon cancer for over seven years.   

‍Mike, fondly known as Wally, was born to predeceased parents, John and Mary Ann, on April 17, 1959, in Rochester, NY. While attending high school at Bishop Kearney and college at RIT, he worked for Chase-Pitkin home improvement stores and stayed for over 25 years.  His second career was as a business owner of Turf Line Fertilizer in Rochester.

Mike is survived by his three children, Bethany Coleman (Dan), Sean Wallace (Maggie), and Addison Wallace; ex-wife, Melissa, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister, Suzanne McSain (Matt), brother, Jim Wallace (Sue), and grandchildren, Eli, Isla, and Ronan. Sadly, Mike only had two years to enjoy being a “Papa”, and although he was sick for all of that time, he did his best to love them like Papas do. 

Mike’s family will host calling hours on Thursday December 14^th from 4-7 p.m. at Jennings Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home in Penfield with a funeral service to be held on Friday December 15^th at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Penfield. Burial service will immediately follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on Lake Avenue in Rochester. A lunch reception will be hosted by the family after the burial.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Rochester Regional Health Lipson Cancer Institute.  The oncology, palliative, and hospice teams took such incredible care of him through all this time and the family is grateful for everyone that has given life to his years.
