Mamie Clementi

ROCHESTER, NY - Mamie (Jerri) Elizabeth Cole Clementi passed away peacefully on September 19, 2023, at the age of 98 at the Episcopal Church Home in Rochester, NY. Mamie is predeceased by her husband, Samuel L. Clementi, her brother, Joseph Cole, and sister, Mary Hotchkiss. Mamie is survived by her children, Dennis Clementi (Barbara) and Donna Kulik (Ray); grandchildren, Mark Clementi (Julie), Daniel Clementi, Leigh Finocchario (Aaron), Timothy Kulik, and Christopher Kulik (Lauren); great grandchildren, Will, Norah, and Jameson Finocchario; Dennis and Marlow Mae Clementi; and Emerson and Jaxon Kulik. She is also survived by a very special niece, Betty Wilson, nephew, James “Jimbo” Hotchkiss, and many other nieces and nephews.

Mamie was born January 9, 1925, in Perry, New York. In 1946, she met Sam and they were married in 1947. They moved to Rochester and eventually settled into their home on Willowbend Drive in Penfield, New York, in 1964. While in Penfield, they had an abundance of neighborhood friends and developed many life-long friendships with fellow parishioners at St. Joseph’s Church. Mamie loved to cook—to the absolute delight of her family and friends! Loved ones spent every holiday and special event at Sam and Mamie’s home, where Mamie always greeted everyone with a smile, kind word, and plate of delicious food.

In her lifetime, Mamie overcame several types of cancer - her survival was attributed to her strong faith and belief in God, and her perseverance - she simply never gave up. She was a very strong believer of her Catholic faith and the power of prayer.

Our mother will be remembered for her love of family and community, and her gift of making people smile.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Episcopal Church Home for the wonderful care they gave Mamie.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, September 26, from 5 to 7pm, at Jennings Nulton and Mattle Funeral Home at 1704 Penfield Road, Penfield, NY. The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 27, at St. Joseph’s Church, 43 Gebhardt Road, Penfield, NY, at 10:30am. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, 1975 Baird Road, Penfield, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
