Obituary of Dean Earl Beyer

Dean E. Beyer, 92, died peacefully on Thursday, August 24, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at Fairport Baptist Home in Fairport, NY.

Dean was the middle son born to Willard and Ruth (Armstrong) Beyer and grew up in Lancaster, NY. Never fond of high school, he quit and enlisted in the US Navy and served in the pacific theater during World War II. He was a proud veteran and was often seen wearing his cap with the Navy insignia.

In November 1945, on a short leave from the Navy, he married Marieadele (Marie) Kerl, also of Lancaster, NY. It didn’t take many years after the war for Marie to realize marrying an avid hunter in November meant there would be little celebration of their anniversary.

In the early 1950’s Dean actively participated in building the family home in Alden, NY. It was there that Dean and Marie raised their four children.

Dean started his own business, Dean E. Beyer Painting and Decorating, and successfully ran it for nearly 40 years. With an eye for color, Dean custom mixed paint for most of his customers. He enjoyed working and considered it a privilege more so than a job. His work ethic was as strong as the day is long and he set a positive example for family and friends.

One of Dean’s favorite places was Keuka Lake in the New York Finger Lakes. As a young boy he spent wonderful times there and had many stories of mischief. Dean was gifted property on the lake by his paternal uncle and aunt and built a cottage that became a beloved place for the whole family.

After retirement, Dean wintered in Fort Myers, FL and became part of a wonderful community at Sun-n- Fun Park. It was hard to pass a home in the park that he had not painted or repaired to help his many friends. Dean was also known for his love of golf and bocce.

Dean was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 40 years, Marieadele, his second wife Evelyn Townsend, his brothers Willard Jr. and Robert, and his son-in-law, James Lewek.

Dean is survived by his four children and their families: Dineen Nalette, Pamela Beyer, Elena Beyer and her husband Howard Bozenhard and Dr. Dean Beyer, Jr. and his wife Patricia. He was “Grampie” to his seven adoring grandchildren, Sean Nalette, Danielle Nalette, Elizabeth Marino and her husband Robert, Alexandra Bozenhard, Anna Lewek, Jeffrey Lewek and Autumn Painter and her husband Jeffrey. Dean had one great-grandchild, Aubrey Marino, who gave him his biggest smiles in his final years. He also leaves Ruth Parsons, his partner for the last 15 years, his sister-in-law Ruth Beyer, and nieces and nephews.

The family thanks the Fairport Baptist Home and Lifetime Care Hospice staff who cared for Dean in his final years. In addition, the family wishes to thank the other residents and their family members for their kindness and support.

Dean will be deeply missed by the family. His warmth, generosity and sense of humor will be forever missed by all who knew him.

A graveside service is planned for Saturday, October 14th at The Rural Cemetery in Lancaster, NY at 10:00AM followed by a luncheon in Rochester, NY for family and friends (location TBD).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Lifetime Care Hospice (http://www.lifetimecare.org/donate-form).
