Joseph William Lusk Obituary
Joseph Lusk, 56, passed away on May 10, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, loyalty, and love. He is predeceased by his father Joseph F. Lusk and step-father Ira S. Stein. He is survived by his two sons, Hayden and Devin, who were the pride of his life; his mother, Maria Stein; his sister, Abigail Lusk Ruben (Joel); his nieces Maisa and Zoe Ruben, and many beloved cousins and aunts and uncles.
Joe graduated from Fairport High School in 1988, and received an associates degree from Monroe Community College several years later.
Joe worked as an electrician for more than 30 years and was a proud member of Local 86 of the IBEW. It was a profession that carried risk, but Joe had always been something of a risk taker. Even as a young boy, he kept his parents on edge — climbing onto anything he could find, including balancing atop fire hydrants with fearless confidence. Joe truly loved his work and especially valued the camaraderie of his Union brothers. Though the conditions were not always comfortable, Joe would never have traded a cold half-built building for a warm office.
As a child and throughout his life, Joe loved sports and adventure. Baseball was an early passion, and he could often be found riding his dirt bike anywhere and everywhere — even straight into the canal. He enjoyed ice skating, swimming, bowling, and just about any sport he could participate in. Camping was another avocation which he greatly enjoyed with his family.
That passion for sports stayed with him into adulthood. Always one to root for the underdog, Joe was a devoted fan of the New York Mets long before it was fashionable. He was an unwavering supporter of the Buffalo Bills. Not even frostbitten feet could keep him away from winter games at Highmark Stadium. Most recently, he attended a Bills game during an endless downpour alongside his cousin, who drove from Philadelphia to brave the miserable weather with him. Despite the conditions, they had a great time.
Joe was a natural entertainer and gifted storyteller who had a way of turning routine experiences into captivating tales. He could wring humor out of the smallest moments. Whether recalling childhood adventures, recounting job site mishaps, or everyday events, he had way of drawing people in and making them laugh until their sides hurt. His sense of humor and quick wit made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him.
Joe will be deeply missed by his family, including his loyal canine companion, Teddy, his brothers at IBEW, and the countless friends he made throughout the years.
