Douglas E. Albright, 87 of Penfield, NY passed away peacefully on March 3rd surrounded by his family.

Doug was born in Penfield to Gordon and Mildred Albright on December 2, 1938.  Doug is survived by the love of his life, Jan Braman; daughters, Marci (Michael) Hart and Jodi (John) Falk; grandchildren, Katie Hart, Emma (Brian) Sisler, Morgan (Mike) Bowman and Aidan Falk; and niece, Mary Beth Albright.  He is predeceased by his parents, his brother, Kenneth Albright and sister-in-law, Jean Albright Crane.  

A graduate of Penfield High School, Doug earned his Bachelor’s degree and played soccer at SUNY College at Oswego, and he did graduate work at Buffalo State Teachers College and SUNY College at Brockport.  He worked for the Pittsford Central School district for 32 years, starting his career as an industrial-arts teacher and soccer coach in 1961 and retiring as Director of Facilities and Transportation.  After retirement, he teamed up with close friend, Bill Alvut, and specialized in home improvement and carpentry work.  They were well suited. Bill handled the paperwork.  Doug selected lunch spots.  Together they measured twice, cut once and shared a lot of laughs.

From a long line of firefighters, Doug was a Penfield Fire Company volunteer and served as Fire Chief in 1975.  Doug loved volleyball and played in several state and national senior tournaments, his favorite being the Huntsman World Senior Games.  He was a fixture at all of his daughters' and granddaughters' activities.  He preferred simple living, appreciated a good ice cream cone, freshly cut grass and affectionately called everyone “Babe”.  With a quick smile and hand to lend, he was by all counts a gentle man.  Rest easy and know we love you, Grandpa Doug.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 43 Gebhardt Road,Penfield, NY.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Penfield Fire Company, 1838 Penfield Road, Penfield, NY 14526.
