Lawrence Michael Dooley, age 72, of Penfield, NY, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Larry was born in Auburn, NY, on September 18, 1953, to Dr. Alfred E. and Mary T. Dooley. After graduating from Auburn High School, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business in 1975 from St. John Fisher University.

Larry had an incredible work ethic and spent over 40 years in the dental industry, where he co-owned a dental laboratory and ran the crown department. His craftsman’s hands served him well not only in his profession, but also around the greens at Penfield Country Club, where he could often be found golfing and socializing with friends.

Larry loved his family immensely. He cherished family vacations to Cape Cod and the holidays, where everyone especially enjoyed his role as “DJ Dooley.” He had a true passion for music and loved sharing it with those he loved.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary; his children, Christopher and Megan Fehr (Ben); and his siblings, Tom Dooley (Kim), Jeanne Reynolds (Bill), and Teri Baier (Mike). 

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Dr. Mark Dooley (Linda).

The family is especially grateful to the team at Highland Hospital for their kindness and support during Larry’s illness.

May we think of him whenever the music plays, a drive sails down the fairway, or family gathers— his larger-than-life smile and warm heart will live on forever.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at a later date in Rochester.
