Herbert E. Nelson of Fairport passed away on January 20, 2026 at age 91.

Predeceased by his parents Emil and Esther; son Richard; sisters May, Ebba, Elenore, and Esther; brother Walter.

Survived by wife, Susanne; son, Herb Jr. (Cheryl); Brother-in-law, Joseph Grimes of Oklahoma; nephew, Ed Lucas of Arizona; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many wonderful friends.

Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1934. Attended Metropolitan high school and was senior class valedictorian. He moved to Rochester in 1952, and worked for Hoover before starting his own business on Monroe Avenue for 10 years, then worked for Eureka before retiring.

Herb was an avid reader and loved to tell stories, which he had many! He volunteered for many years at the Egypt Fire Department. He loved Euchre and the Buffalo Bills.

Friends may call at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home (1704 Penfield Road, Penfield) from 10-11AM, on Friday, February 6, 2026; followed by his graveside service at White Haven Memorial Park , 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford.
