Margaret L. Eighmey, lovingly known as Peg, passed peacefully on January 1, 2026, at the age of 89. She was born on May 3, 1936, and lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, humor, and deep devotion to her family and community.
Peg was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dale Eighmey, her daughter, Cathy Cooper and longtime friend, Tina Morton. She is survived by her daughter, Sara Bennage; her grandson, Matt (Lindsy) Bennage; granddaughters Niki and Jamie Dupont and Zoe Sanders; her cherished great-grandchildren, Olivia and Emilia Bennage and great friend, Carol Catalano. Her family was her pride and joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
For decades, Peg served her community through her dog grooming business, Poodle Shack, where her dedication, skill, and care were well known. She also brought smiles to countless faces as a Penfield school bus driver, forming bonds with generations of students and families who remember her fondly. Peg was extremely hardworking and determined, yet always humble, never seeking recognition, only doing what needed to be done.
Peg had a big heart and an open door. She was always willing to help someone in need, whether that meant offering a listening ear, practical support, or even a place to stay. She loved being surrounded by people and especially enjoyed gatherings the bigger, the better. Laughter followed her wherever she went.
Known for her many sayings some best left unrepeated, Peg left behind phrases and memories that those who knew her will never forget. She made an impression simply by being herself.
Peg will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and community spirit, and a reminder that a life lived with heart can touch countless others.
