Emily Grace Monti (07/07/1989 – 12/12/2025) was born in Virginia Beach, VA, and grew up in Penfield, NY, before making her home in Niagara Falls, NY. After a courageous battle with long-term mental illness, Emily leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and goodness. 

From her earliest years, Emily’s quick wit, radiant beauty, and adventurous spirit shone brightly. Known affectionately as Emmy, she embraced life with curiosity and determination. Her “just watch me” attitude fueled her many passions. Whether she was on the slopes snowboarding, composing and singing her own music, teaching others as a dedicated yoga instructor, or challenging herself in the pool as an accomplished swimmer, Emily embraced life with unyielding determination. Above all, Emily’s Christian faith and her generous heart for serving others guided her every step.

Emily’s academic journey reflected her intelligence and drive. She graduated from SUNY Brockport with a degree in Psychology and continued her studies there, earning an additional Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. As a registered nurse, Emily served in various roles, including medical-surgical nursing, psychiatric care, and senior assisted living case management, always driven by deep respect and empathy for every person in her care.

Emily’s family, friends, and all who knew her will forever cherish her warmth, humor, and gentle spirit. She leaves behind her parents, Mark and Rena Monti; her sister, Kathryn (Ross) Thomas, and their children; her brother, Benjamin (Megan) Monti, and their children; her partner, Eduardo Moro Perez, as well as many of Emily’s aunts, uncles, cousins, and cherished friends.  

For those who wish to make a donation in Emily’s memory, the family invites you to contribute to the Camille Massaro Caulfield Professional Nursing Award at D’Youville University, 320 Porter Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14201. This is awarded to the nursing student who best exemplifies the dignity and compassion of the nursing vocation just as Emily and her beloved grandmother Camille demonstrated during their lifetimes.

A private memorial service honoring Emily’s life will be held at the family’s convenience.
