David Randolph Gulley, lovingly known as “Bubba” and “The Mayor,” passed away on December 1st at the age of 46, in Lexington, KY.

Born in Rochester, NY, David graduated from Penfield High School in 1997, and went on to earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Hotel Technology from Monroe Community College in 2001.

Throughout his life, David worked in many roles, but some of his most cherished experiences included training as a first responder at the Center for Domestic Preparedness run by FEMA; serving as a chef at the Lexington School; and most recently working as a Fayette County District school bus driver. He was immensely proud of earning his commercial driver’s license. David was also an EMT with the Penfield Ambulance for over 12 years — a role he adored and one that perfectly matched his passion for helping others. He had a remarkable ability to care for both the elderly and children with patience and kindness.

David loved cooking, especially sharing meals with loved ones. He enjoyed goofing around, cheering on the Buffalo Bills, spending time with friends, and joking with his sister. He especially treasured his mother’s meatballs and many traditional Italian and Irish dishes. Some of his favorite shows included Law & Order, NCIS: New Orleans, and stand-up comedy. David had a generous spirit and a huge heart; he would do anything for anyone.

He is survived by his parents, Rose (Aquilino) and Jim Gulley; his sister, Jennifer; his beloved “nephew,” Guinness the dog; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his grandparents Vincent and Rose Aquilino; grandparents JT and Margy Gulley; Uncle Michael Gulley; Aunt Jane Otero; and Aunt Deborah Aquilino

A visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025, at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home,1704 Penfield road.

David's Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM, on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025, at St. Joseph's Church, 43 Gebhardt drive. The service will also be livestream through the church's website: https://holyspirit-saintjoseph.org/online-ministries (be sure to close the popup to see the page).
