Joseph H. Casey passed away on October 28, 2025.  He is survived by his children, Robert L. Casey and Beth C. Weber and their spouses, George Flansburg and Russell Weber.  Joe was a loving grandfather to Lorraine Weber and Zealand Weber.  His sister, Graydon Casey, lives in Irondequoit, New York, and his sister, Elizabeth Follet and husband, Rick Follet, live in Palm Bay, Florida.  Grandpa Joe enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his nieces and nephews, Ken and Becky Flansburg and Kim and Jeffrey Colletta, as well as his great nieces and nephews, David, Robert, Michael, Elizabeth, Aaron, Matthew, Issac, Marcus and Natalie and their spouses.  

Joe graduated from Ben Franklin High School in 1959.  He received a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College and a master's degree from the University of Maine.  Joe spent summers fishing for dog fish in Maine for Ward Science. He was a history buff and could share interesting historical stories on nearly any topic.  Joe taught history at Keen State College in the late 1960s/early 1970s (he had the traditional 1970s mustache).  When Joe and family moved back to Rochester, New York, in 1974, he got a computer programing degree from MCC.  His children remember the old school stock paper punch cards stacked around the house.  Joe liked hiking and snowshoeing, often at Durand Eastman Park.  He loved reading.  He was an incredibly kind person and a friend to many including his neighbors.  Joe was a best friend to his children and he learned to “visit” by phone, usually talking to Beth and Robb daily.  Joe will be greatly missed but always in our hearts.    Hope you are basking in the warmth of “wall to wall sunshine”.
