With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Edmond Daniel Landy, aged 84, of Penfield, NY, who passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on October 10, 2025. Born on June 11, 1941, in New York City, Ed led a life defined by kindness, humility, and selflessness. Known to some as Eddie (with two Es, two Ds, and an I), to others as Mr. Ed, and to many as Big Ed, he devoted himself entirely to his family who loved him so much. He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Landy, mother Mary Phelan Landy, sister Maureen Landy, and beloved cousin, Margaret Klatt. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Kathryn “Kathy” Monahan Landy; his children, Patrick (Janet) Landy, Joseph (Brandi) Landy, Kathleen Landy, Brian (Lorraine) Landy, and Elizabeth (Timothy) Eddy and his beloved grandchildren, James “Jimmy” Landy, John “Jack” Landy, Edmond “Ned” Landy, Margaret Eddy, Shannon Landy, Carter Landy, Caitlin Eddy, Joey Landy, Erin Landy, and Daniel Eddy.
A lifelong banker, Ed’s accomplished career, at Chase Manhattan Bank and Bank of NY Mellon, reflect a steadfast commitment to honesty and justice. The clarity of his moral compass was matched by the depth of his abiding sense of personal integrity.
A dedicated father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Ed so enjoyed the loving family he created with Kathy. Friends and loved ones were always welcome to their home on Lorna Lane, where there was always doo-wop, exceptional snacks, and laughs to be enjoyed. Ed reveled in spending time with his children and grandchildren. The more excited he was to see his loved ones, the more his Bronx accent could be heard!
The family will be present on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 4–7pm at Jennings Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home at 1704 Penfield Road in Penfield, NY 14526. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 16 at 11am at St. Joseph’s Church in Penfield, NY, followed by interment at Ascension Garden Cemetery in Henrietta, NY. Friends and loved ones are warmly invited to attend, share memories, and honor Ed’s loving and well-lived life.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Penfield Hope or the Wilmot Cancer Institute are greatly appreciated.
