Madolyn W. Brown of Penfield died on September 12, 2025, at age 88.  She was born on May 17, 1937 in Beaver Falls, PA to Dr. Wayne and Alice Watterson. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Ronald Brown; three sons: Robert Brown, David Brown, and Mark (Vicki) Brown; and six grandchildren: Meghan Brown, Ryan Brown, Timothy Brown, Matthew Brown, Brian Brown and Emily Brown.

Madolyn graduated from Westminster College in Pennsylvania and was a second-grade teacher in Mount Lebanon, PA before devoting her life to her husband and family. She first caught Ronald’s eye as a junior high school cheerleader and later, on the steps at the University of Pittsburgh. Their first date was to a Pittsburgh Pirates game, and little did they know that baseball would become a binding thread of their family.

Madolyn was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. They moved to Penfield, NY in 1967. She loved to cook and entertain and would go all out setting her table with homemade fresh floral centerpieces and fine china and crystal. But it was her cooking that took center stage! Homemade noodles, mashed potatoes, and her signature chocolate cake with seven-minute frosting were some of the family favorites. Madolyn was involved in a local garden club and a longtime, active member of the Penfield Presbyterian Church.

In 1976, the family spent a year in London, England, travelling to 13 different countries. Some of her fondest memories were spending their Thanksgiving holiday in Mallorca and their 17th wedding anniversary on an evening cruise on the Seine River in Paris.

She was a good sport, attending all of her sons and grandsons’ baseball games throughout the years, as well as being a season ticket holder to the Rochester Red Wings.

In retirement, Madolyn and Ron spent time in Hilton Head Island and in Sun City West, Arizona.

There will be no visitation for Madolyn. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 27th, 1:00pm in The United Presbyterian Church of Canandaigua, 11 Gibson Street at North Main Street, Canandaigua NY. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Madolyn’s memory with a charitable donation are asked to consider the Alzheimer’s Association.
