Karen E. Welch, 87, passed away at home on August 25, 2025.  She was pre-deceased by her husband of 63 years, Edmund.  She is survived by her four children, Kim (Mario) Herman, Kevin (Cathi), Darlene, and Dean (Christy); six grandchildren, Kristen, Kyle, and Kacin Welch, Riley (Andrew) Jones, and Kyle (Jill) and Kellin (Amanda) Zuhlke, and four great grandchildren, Zoey, Adaline, Graham, and Anastasia.

Karen and Ed married in 1958 and moved to Fairport, becoming village homeowners in 1962.  She began driving school bus for Fairport Schools in 1969, retiring in 1994 after 25 years.  She was active with the Fairport Fire Department’s Auxiliary.  In addition, Karen served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, taking her scouts to the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.  

Karen and Ed enjoyed their retirement years by traveling the country in their motor home.  They were Snowbirds in Florida for many years before becoming Winter Texans in the Rio Grande Valley.

At a later date, her immediate family will inter Karen with her husband during a private ceremony at White Haven Memorial Park in Pittsford.
