David grew up in Irondequoit with his younger sister, Janet, and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from the Pratt Institute before he became a Lieutenant in the US Army. He served honorably during the Vietnam War before being discharged due to injury, one that would cause him pain for the rest of his life. He then pursued a long and meaningful career working for Monroe County as a supervisor in its child protective division after receiving his Master’s Degree from Syracuse University. David was married for 51 years to his beloved wife Andrea who he lost in 2021 to cancer. Their passion were their children, Lauren, Mark and Andrew and they would often be found at their sports events, schools and eventually with their own families at their homes throughout the country. They were incredibly proud of their kids and would share that feeling with anyone who met them. The arrival of their nine grandchildren became their true fixation during their later years, endowing the same love on them that they did their children, only with more treats and less rules!

Once David retired and his children were older, he was able to pursue his passion for history, and particularly the Civil War. He could often be found reading any material he could find relating to the events of the war and could tell you every detail about any artifact he came upon. A Buffalo Bills fan since their inception, it was a certainty that he was watching every game every Sunday despite the disappointment from never seeing them win a Super Bowl. David also loved food and eating and what was for dinner or what loved ones were eating was always a top question he would ask. Later in life David was thrilled to find the Westerns of his childhood were back on his TV and that channel would be on for hours a day, including during his lung cancer treatments that Janet lovingly ensured he went to.
