Elinor Irene Purdy of Fairport NY passed away on July 2nd 2025 at the age of 95. Elinor is predeceased by her parents Howard and Gertrude VanDerlike, husband, Roy F. Purdy, sister, Buela (Al) Kaper, brother, Calvin (Betty) VanDerlike, nephew, Wayne Kaper, and son in law, Nicholas Ruggieri.

She is survived by her children, Alan (Lori) Purdy, James Purdy (Laura Thomas),  Nancy Ruggieri, Sandra Weis (Ace Cole), and Cheryl (Glenn) Bray; grandchildren, Jayme (Jim) Fantauzzo, Ashley Fakovic,Courtney Purdy, Michael (Sarah) Purdy, Eric Purdy (Jessica Suhr), Gregory (Brittany)Purdy, Brooklyn Ruggieri, Kendra (Andrew) Breen, Brian (Mary) Weis, Bradley (Jessica Hainsworth) Bray, and Caitlynn (Cahal) Moulton; great grandchildren, Dominic, Lucus, Zara, Ryleigh, Maxyn, Mason, Mikayla, Lincoln, Brighton, Elinor, Teagann, and Carlie.   

She grew up on her father’s dairy farm and loved spending time with the animals. Elinor attended West Walworth High School where she played the cornet in their marching band and was class president. Elinor married Roy F. Purdy on July 22,1949. Roy & Elinor owned property in Hartsville, NY (Purdy Place) where she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren in the great outdoors. Elinor was a devoted mother. She was once asked “What time in your life would you want to relive?” to which she replied “With my husband and all my five children at home.” She looked forward to her visits with her great grandchildren at Aaron Manor. She and her family greatly appreciated the care from the devoted staff. She and Roy have beautiful memories of traveling from the East Coast to the West Coast. Their travels included Alaska, Hawaii and all over Europe.

Family and friends may call Wednesday July 9th, at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home 1704 Penfield Rd, Penfield, NY 14526 from 4-7 PM. Due to COVID, family did not have services for her late husband Roy, who passed on October 10th, 2020. With military honors, he will be laid to rest with Elinor on July 10th, 2 pm at Oakwood Cemetery,  1975 Baird Rd Penfield, NY 14526.
