Obituary of Laura A Zanino

Laura Anne Zanino (Lozipone), 60, of Macedon, New York, passed away on May 7, 2025 in Rochester, New York.

Laura was born in Macedon to Lawrence and Shirley Lozipone on May 16, 1964. She went to high school at Palmyra Macedon High School and graduated in 1982. She went on to earn an Associate’s degree in Business from Bryant and Stratton College. Married to  her loving husband, Joseph Zanino, in May 1987, Laura moved to Gananda to raise her family on what is fondly remembered as one of the favorite cul de sacs in the community, surrounded by people who became lifelong friends. She worked as an Administrative Coordinator for various schools and companies such as Gananda Central School District Transportation Department, Companion Care of Rochester, and the University of Rochester for many years.

Laura was known for her love of the arts. She spent the majority of her time crafting and selling her creations, most notably handmade jewelry and wreaths through her business Wood and Whimsy Creations. She helped coordinate Rochester’s first wreath gala with fellow creators in 2019.  When she wasn’t crafting, Laura enjoyed traveling. She enjoyed many trips to New York City with her daughter and friends, family vacations to Indiana, Walkins Glen, Lake Placid, and any place that has a sandy beach. Her final trip was a cruise enjoyed with both family and friends. A gracious host, many knew her as an amazing cook and baker. Her favorite times of year were prepping and hosting family holidays. Laura’s home was filled with handmade holiday decorations and a beautiful Christmas tree in December. She coordinated annual Christmas cutout cookie decorating with her entire extended family. All of her favorite activities, whether it be with family or friends, winter or summer, were accompanied with a margarita in hand.

Laura was also involved with her Bible Study group through Browncroft Community Church. Many Tuesday nights were spent in prayer with beloved friends while enjoying good company, and at times, delicious food.

Friends may call at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Road, Wednesday, May 14, 3-7 PM. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, at 11AM at Browncroft Community Church, 2530 Browncroft Boulevard. Entombment will follow the service at White Haven Memorial Park. If attending the funeral, the family kindly requests that attendees wear bright colors to honor Laura’s love of flowers and the arts; her favorite color was purple.

Laura is survived by her husband Joe, daughter Tina (Andy), sons Matt and Jon, mother Shirley, and brother Larry. Laura is also survived by her brothers and sisters in law, including Maria (Chris), Jim (Ellen), and Michael (Debbie). She had many nieces and nephews: Jeff (Erin), Sarah (Jim), Katherine, James, Andrew, and Nicholas. Laura had one cherished grandson, Ryder. She is predeceased by her beloved father Larry.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations in Laura’s name to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
