Obituary of Jane Gallagher

Jane Kelly Gallagher, age 88 of Penfield New York, passed away on February 23rd, 2025.

A brief funeral service will be held at Jennings Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home Inc, 1704 Penfield Road, Penfield, NY 14526 on Friday February 28th at 1 PM.  A private burial will follow.

Jane was born in Rochester New York to Catherine Cooney Kelly and Raymond Allen Kelly on September 1st, 1936.  She graduated from Mercy high and then attended Miss McCarthy’s Secretarial School.   She worked at The Eastman School of Music, Eastman Kodak, Xerox and retired from The Hewlett-Packard Company, as an administrative assistant to 2 managers.  In 1989, Jane was selected as one of 50 HP employees to attend and commemorate the Hewlett-Packard 50th anniversary.  While there, she had ice cream with Bill and Dave in their start-up garage, in Palo Alto.  Jane was also a charter member at Penfield Volunteer Ambulance.  Jane contributed a panel to the Penfield Quilt, displayed in the town hall auditorium.

Jane was a very thoughtful, caring and giving person, to friends and neighbors.  Jane frequently walked in the neighborhood and made friends easily.  She enjoyed traveling and cruises to many different countries around the world, and closer to home, with her husband Fran.

Jane is survived by her husband of 64 years “Fran” Francis Gallagher and son Kevin Gallagher of Penfield, and cousins Richard Kelly, Curtis Kelly, and nieces and nephews, John Henry, Karen Pettingill (Stauber), Mark Stauber, Robert Gallagher, Kathleen Gallagher, Karla Gallagher, Stephen Gallagher, Katherine Gallagher, Susan Gallagher, John Gallagher, Scott Gallagher, brother-in-law Jack Gallagher, and sister-in-law Yvonne Gallagher.  She is preceded in death by her mother Catherine Cooney Kelly, father Raymond Allen Kelly, sister Gail K. Henry, brother-in-law William Robert Henry, nephew Robert Henry, and niece Sheila Henry (Nolte).

Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made in Jane’s name to George Eastman Museum, 900 East Avenue, Rochester, NY 14607.

Jane will be very thoughtfully and lovingly missed.
