Obituary of Roger J. Quinn

Roger Quinn, 98, of Webster, NY, since 2022 and long-time resident of Penfield, NY, died at home on February 24, 2025. He is survived by his son, Timothy (Margaret Stuhr); grandchildren, Katherine (Bryan) Eckelmann and Andrew (Amy) Quinn; great-grandchildren, Coraline Eckelmann and Christopher, James, and Michael Quinn; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Betty; son, Christopher, siblings, Virginia, Donald, Dorothy, Harold, Marion, and Eileen; and parents, James and Rose Quinn.

Born in 1926 in Sodus, New York, Roger was a 1944 graduate of Webster High School and the University of Rochester, where he served from 1944-1946 in the Naval ROTC during World War II. After beginning his banking career at Marine Midland in 1950, he was called up in 1952 for a two-year stint at training centers and bases in Rhode Island, Maryland, and Virginia.

After his second discharge from the Navy, he returned to the bank where he worked in the credit and mortgage departments and then in the commercial banking division, becoming a senior VP in 1970. After his 24-year career at Marine Midland, Roger founded several mortgage brokerage firms in which he continued actively into the early 2000s.

He volunteered for leadership positions on the Penfield Assessment Review Board, Consumer Credit Counseling of Rochester, Bishop Sheen Housing Foundation, Better Rochester Living Inc, and the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester; supported a variety of local organizations, such as the Chamber of Commerce, the Urban League, and Shepherd Home; and was an active member of his church.

Roger's Memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 9, 1 pm at the Church of the Incarnation, 1957 Five Mile Line Road, Penfield, NY.  Interment private.
