Obituary of Patricia A. Waddell

Patricia Ann Waddell of Rochester passed away peacefully at the Leo Center for Caring on July 7, 2016. She was 89 and lived a long and purposeful life. She was born in Rochester, NY to Edna and Delos Waddell. Her parents spent the first summer with Pat at Manitou Beach which would always remain a place for family joy and memories. After High School Patricia joined the United States Navy on January 4, 1929. She was a Navy Wave and served in Florida, where in true Pat Waddell fashion she was in charge of launching weather balloons which brought her love of nature and of the outdoors and her dedication to service together in a practical way. She ended her active duty in December of 1952 and returned to Rochester where she worked at Kodak until retirement. She had many deep and devoted friendships and enjoyed wonderful family clam bakes and holidays where she served as a deep conversa tionalist. She spent her one on one time sharing memorable stories that were uplifting and interesting. She outlived many including her younger sister, Judith Irene Malley to whom she remained devoted. Pat is survived by Judith's husband, Bob Malley and their children, Marilyn, Jim, Mike, Patricia and Catherine. A Memorial Service will be held at Rochester Presbyterian Home, 256 Thurston Rd. On Monday, July 18th at 4PM. She will be interred in White Haven Memorial Park near the nature trail. Patricia loved cats and nature. Donations in her memory can be sent to the Humane Society, an organization she personally endowed, protecting domestic cats, dogs and animals at risk.
